Description

Celkeran 2mg is a chemotherapy drug that has been mainly used in the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. It is a nitrogen mustard alkylating agent . It also has been used as an immunosuppressive drug for various autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, such as nephrotic syndrome. In India, its manufactured by two companies Natco & Celon. Celon sells it on the brand name of Celkeran 2 mg tablet. Packing is for 30 tabs per pack.

How should i use celkeran?

Use Celkeran as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.
Take Celkeran 2mg use by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
Celkeran works best if it is taken at the same time each day.
Drinking extra fluids while you are taking Celkeran is recommended. Check with your doctor for instructions.
If you miss a dose of Celkeran, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Celkeran Dosage

Dosage: 0.1 to 0.2 mg/kg orally daily for 3 to 6 weeks as required. (This usually amounts to 4 to 10 mg per day for the average patient.) The entire daily dose may be given at one time. The dosage must be carefully adjusted according to the response of the patient and must be reduced as soon as there is an abrupt fall in the white blood cell count. Patients with Hodgkin's disease usually require 0.2 mg/kg daily. Patients with other lymphomas or chronic lymphocytic leukemia usually require only 0.1 mg/kg daily. When lymphocytic infiltration of the bone marrow is present, or when the bone marrow is hypoplastic, the daily dose should not exceed 0.1 mg/kg (about 6 mg for the average patient).
Alternatively the initial dosage of Celkeran for the treatment of Hodgkin's disease is 10 mg orally once a day for seven days out of twenty one. This regimen also includes vinblastine, procarbazine, prednisolone, etoposide, vincristine, and doxorubicin.

 Celkeran Tablet - Side-effects

Celkeran 2mg effects following is a list of possible side-effects that may occur from all constituting ingredients of Celkeran Tablet. This is not a comprehensive list. These side-effects are possible, but do not always occur. Some of the side-effects may be rare but serious. Celkeran Tablet - Drug Interactions

This may increase your risk for side-effects or cause your drug not to work properly. Tell your doctor about all the drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are using, so that you doctor can help you prevent or manage drug interactions. Celkeran Tablet may interact with the following drugs and products:
  • Phenylbutazone
  • Warfarin

Celkeran Tablet - Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to Celkeran 2mg tablet Tablet is a contraindication. In addition, Celkeran Tablet should not be used if you have the following conditions:
  • Disease that has already failed treatment with chlorambucil
  • Hypersensitivity
